Nine people were injured in a nighttime attack with “Shahed“ drones in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing information from the regional prosecutor's office. Among the injured are three newborns and their mothers, who were in a maternity ward at the time of the strike, BTA reports.

Two of the babies were born on Thursday, and the third on Tuesday. Both the children and their mothers are suffering from acute stress reactions and were urgently evacuated to another medical facility, the publication states.

A dental clinic in the city was also damaged in the attack.

According to preliminary information, another person, a 64-year-old man, was injured, Kharkiv Region Governor Oleg Sinegubov said. Details of his condition have not yet been released.

Sinegubov added that in the Saltivskyi district of Kharkiv, a drone hit a three-story building that was engulfed in fire. Rescue teams were working on the scene.

In recent weeks, Russia has intensified air strikes on Kharkiv, mainly using drones and missiles in the dark. Ukrainian authorities continue to insist on strengthening air defense systems to protect civilian objects and the population.
