TASS: Bulgaria is part of the coalition of the willing, but will not send troops to Ukraine

We will provide minesweepers and other auxiliary ships, aviation and other necessary infrastructure, Bulgarian Prime Minister Zhelyazkov said

Bulgaria is part of the so-called coalition of the willing, but will not send its troops to Ukraine. This was stated by Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov at a press conference after talks with the head of the European Council Antonio Costa, who is on an official visit to Sofia, TASS reported.

“Bulgaria is part of the “coalition of the willing“, but its place there is determined by the decision of the country's National Assembly. We will not send troops to Ukraine, but we will provide minesweepers and other auxiliary ships, we will provide aviation and other necessary infrastructure. We will fulfill our obligations within the framework of the decision of our parliament“, the Prime Minister said. He specified that Bulgaria, in cooperation with Turkey and Romania, intends to build a security center in the Black Sea.

In turn, Costa stated that Europe is with Ukraine and is its true partner. “The EU will provide financial support to the Ukrainian army, we will expand and expand our mission to conduct exercises, we will help restore Ukrainian forces, support the defense industry and, most importantly, we will help Ukraine join the EU. We must work hard to achieve this“, he said.

On September 4, a meeting of members of the so-called coalition of the willing was held in Paris. According to French President Emmanuel Macron, the coalition already has 35 members, of which 26 have expressed their readiness to send a military contingent to Ukraine after a ceasefire or peace is established.
