Turnaround: Porsche brings back the internal combustion engine in the Cayenne - 1

In the era of relentless electrification, the German icon Porsche has delivered a surprise that made purists breathe a sigh of relief. It turns out that market reality is stronger than bold predictions – after interest in fully electric models turned out to be cooler than expected, the Stuttgart company decided to change tactics. The next generation of the best-selling Porsche Cayenne will not be just a “battery on wheels“, but will continue to delight its fans with classic gasoline engines and advanced hybrid systems.

This is a real strategic turn! The debut of the new model is expected around 2028, with Porsche planning to offer “the best of both worlds”. In parallel with the futuristic electric version, the well-known internal combustion units will also remain in showrooms. This move seems quite logical in the premium segment, where customers are not yet ready to cut the umbilical cord with roaring engines in the name of complete silence.

Technically, the new machine will stand on the modern PPC (Premium Platform Combustion) platform, shared with the next Audi Q7. This partnership promises not only a better software architecture, but also the implementation of the “magic“ active suspension from the Taycan. The system literally “nails“ the body in the corners, eliminating any tilt and turning the massive crossover into a precise tool for control.

Visually, the new Cayenne will borrow bold features from its electric brothers – expect cleaner optics and an interior that resembles a command center with multiple displays. Despite the digitalization, the concept remains unchanged: focus on the driver and uncompromising comfort for five. And for those looking for even more space, the brand is already preparing a completely new, even larger flagship.

After all, Porsche wholeheartedly admits that the future will not be just black or white. The way forward is hybrid in the literal and figurative sense, where high technology and the spirit of gasoline will coexist peacefully for many years to come. The classics clearly refuse to give up without a fight!
