Kia will enter the pickup market in 2025 with its new model called "Tasman". Although it is positioned as a global model, initial availability has been confirmed in South Korea, Australia, Africa and the Middle East. The name "Tasman" pays homage to Tasmania and the Tasman Sea, offered by the Australian branch of Kia.
Although specific technical details are scarce, reports suggest the Tasman will debut a 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine borrowed from the Sorento, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. While the more powerful six-cylinder engine and hybrid options remain uncertain, Kia has committed to launching two electric pickup models by 2027, one of which is likely to feature a specially developed electric platform.
