Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the long-awaited GT 63 S E Performance, which also boasts the moniker of being the fastest Mercedes production car ever produced. The GT 63 S E Performance holds the title of AMG's fastest-accelerating production model, sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in a staggering 2.8 seconds, beating even the famed AMG One hypercar by 0.1 seconds, despite its top speed of 320 km/h lags behind the F1-inspired hypercar by 35 km/h.
This hybrid configuration boasts a combined output of 805 hp. and a torque of 1420 Nm. The twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine generates 604bhp, while the rear-mounted electric motor contributes an additional 201bhp.
Power is sent to all four wheels via an AMG Performance 4Matic+ system controlled by a nine-speed AMG Speedshift MCT 9G transmission. In addition, a two-speed transmission takes care of the electric motor, and a mechanical limited-slip differential optimizes the performance of the rear axle.
To ensure optimal weight distribution, the lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 6.1 kWh is mounted on the rear axle and features a direct cooling system. While performance takes precedence in the electrification of the AMG GT, a fully charged battery offers a modest 13 km of zero-emission range for those looking for a greener ride.
