The revived Renault 5 is hitting hard at its main competitor from Peugeot - 1

Renault is gearing up for a big hit with the new electric Renault 5, surpassing its sales targets by 300% right after pre-orders opened at the end of May. Despite the availability of only the most expensive version with a 150 hp engine. and 52 kWh battery, demand exceeded the company's expectations.

Renault predicts that the Renault 5 will sell around 45,000 units in the French market alone next year, which is significantly more than the best results of the Zoe model, as well as those of the main rival Peugeot e-208. of which only 22,700 were sold in 2023. Predictions are that the innovation will strongly affect the sales of the main rival Peugeot e-208.

More affordable options with 95 and 120 hp engines. and 40 kWh battery will appear by mid-2025, and in 2026 a new LFP (Lithium Ferrophosphate) battery will be introduced. All this will further increase the demand for the revived model.

The first production cars are now undergoing final testing, and customers who purchased R Pass priority access before May 30 will receive their Renault 5 in December. Orders placed between May 31 and June 17 will be delivered in January 2025, while those who order now won't be able to receive their cars until next spring. Delivery to dealerships will begin in October.
