Boris Yeltsin's official Mercedes-Benz is up for sale. Armored by Germany's Trasco Bremen studio, this car has now been uploaded to a Russian free classifieds site. The car was made to order by the garage with a special purpose for the Russian leader Boris Yeltsin. The limousine was used both for daily trips and for meetings with high-ranking guests, such as German Chancellor Helmut Kohl, for example.
Cars associated with heads of state rarely appear for public sale in Russia. Boris Yeltsin's limousine from 1994 is iconic in its own way: before that, both presidents and general secretaries of the Central Committee of the CPSU used Russian cars.
The S-Klasse launched for sale is equipped with a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine (320 horsepower, 470 Nm), which is combined with a four-speed automatic transmission. The mileage of the limousine is less than 60 thousand kilometers; the special vehicle was serviced by GON and the Avilon dealership. Back in 1996, Boris Yeltsin switched to another Mercedes-Benz - a long wheelbase with an increased part between the doors, so the modest mileage is understandable.
For the 30-year-old collector's item, however, sellers are asking a huge amount of money. It is about 50 million rubles, which at the current exchange rate equals 514,200 euros. It's practically the most expensive W140 on sale! However, the ad says that a bargain is possible, but even with a discount, the price is incredibly high.
