Statistics of car manufacturers on the number of sales in the United States show that the most popular models among buyers are cars from the budget segment. The most sought after are KIA Forte, Nissan Versa and Mitsubishi Mirage.
Due to the fact that soon there may not be a single new car in the US that costs less than $20,000, buyers are now actively buying such cars. As reported by Motor1, reports from automakers show that sales of low-cost cars have increased tremendously.
For example, KIA Forte sales increased by 6.0%, Nissan Versa - by 64.2%, and Mitsubishi Mirage - by as much as 114.3%. KIA sold 101,093 Forte models, Nissan sold 29,302 Versa units, and Mitsubishi managed to sell 20,024 Mirage units even after announcing the discontinuation of the subcompact car.
What motivates people to buy small, cheap cars? Mitsubishi says the Mirage's low price is driving sales of the model. At the same time, the Nissan Versa recently received a restyling that made it much more attractive.
The KIA Forte has always been a relatively strong player in the market, but improving sales are proof that people still want an affordable four-door. In the US, the Mitsubishi Mirage starts at $17,480 for the 2024 model year, the facelifted Nissan Versa starts at $18,330 for the 2025 model year, and the KIA Forte starts at $21,145.
