Toyota Motor has unveiled a new hybrid car that runs on gaseous hydrogen and is equipped with an electric motor. The car's range reaches about 250 kilometers, which is 20% more than the previous version, which was tested last year and ran exclusively on hydrogen.
This hybrid vehicle equipped with a gas-hydrogen engine is based on the Hiace commercial vehicle. This is part of the "strategy for the so-called multitrack development" of Toyota, within which the company plans to expand its model range.
Toyota has been testing its hydrogen-powered cars in Australia since last year, but now it has decided to also test this hybrid model, which is equipped with an electric motor, to solve problems such as limited range and not enough hydrogen stations for icing.< /p>
„Our customers are really struggling due to the lack of nearby hydrogen refueling stations as well as the high cost of fuel,” said Toyota Executive Vice President Hiroki Nakajima. – “We will work hard to make water-based transportation a reality”.
