Mazda has shown at the Tokyo Motor Show the most powerful version of the MX-5 roadster (Miata) in the entire history of the model's production. Interestingly, the development of the modification, which is called the 12R, is actively participated in by the Mazda Spirit Racing racing division.
The car, which will be produced in a limited edition of 200 copies, has a two-liter engine with a capacity of 197 horsepower. This makes the 12R version the most powerful factory modification of the MX-5 ever produced.
The car receives a six-speed manual gearbox, Brembo brake calipers, larger diameter wheels and height-adjustable shock absorbers. External differences from the standard roadster include an original front bumper, rear spoiler and forged wheels. The 12R version will be sold only in the Japanese market.
