A real revolution is happening in the sports car market: the electric KIA EV6 GT overtook the Ferrari Purosangue in a drag race in a straight line. This event proves once again that speed no longer depends on the price or the prestigious badge on the hood.
The British automotive publication Carwow organized a demonstration race between these two cars. The powerful atmospheric V12 engine of the Ferrari with 715 hp faced the electric power plant of the KIA EV6 GT with 641 hp (with Overboost mode) and a torque of 770 Nm. Although the KIA is slightly heavier – 2215 kg against 2200 kg of Ferrari, this did not prevent the electric car from taking the lead from the first meters and not losing its lead.
Officially, the EV6 GT accelerates to 96 km/h in 3.5 seconds, but in real races it showed even better results, allowing it to leave the Italian supercar behind in all attempts. Only once did Ferrari manage to get ahead when the pilot turned on the classic KIA engine simulation mode with gear shifting.
The price contrast is especially striking: the Ferrari Purosangue costs over $ 395,000, while the KIA EV6 GT starts at $ 65,275. And while Ferrari attracts with its luxurious equipment, distinctive style and legendary emblem, this race showed that the era of traditional dominance of gasoline supercars is coming to an end.
The results of the race not only confirmed the advantages of electric cars in terms of dynamics, but also demonstrated how much the automotive market has changed over the past decade. KIA can now show its Ferrari taillights - and this is a new reality in the world of speed.
