Production at the former Toyota plants in St. Petersburg and Volkswagen plants in the Nizhny Novgorod region is planned to begin in 2026, Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov announced in the State Duma.
“This year we plan to restart the remaining two plants – the former Toyota plant in St. Petersburg and the former Volkswagen plant in the Nizhny Novgorod region“, the minister said.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade proposes to develop additional instruments to protect Russian business investments in the event of a possible withdrawal of foreign automakers.
