Kazakhstan and China have signed documents to strengthen cooperation in the water sector. First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar was on a working visit to China, where he took part in the 12th meeting of the Kazakh-Chinese Committee for Cooperation between Kazakhstan and China, Kazinform reports, citing the government press service.

During the meeting of the Committee with the participation of representatives of the central state bodies of the two countries, issues of creating favorable conditions for the development of unhindered trade, strengthening the transport connectivity of the two countries, implementing joint investment projects in Kazakhstan with the localization of production, as well as expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation were considered.

After the event, the parties signed the Protocol of the 12th meeting of the Kazakh-Chinese Committee for Cooperation. In addition, to improve the activities of the Committee, the parties decided to include in its composition the Coordination Committee for Industrial and Investment Cooperation and to establish a Subcommittee in the field of education. The parties also signed documents on strengthening interdepartmental cooperation in the field of water resources and archival affairs.

During the bilateral talks with the Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Ding Xuexiang, key areas of cooperation between the governments of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the People's Republic of China were discussed, with special attention being paid to strengthening cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, transport and logistics, agriculture, energy and tourism.

The parties positively assessed the dynamics of the development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and China on a wide range of issues. According to the results of last year, the volume of bilateral trade amounted to 43.8 billion USD.

A number of meetings with Chinese companies were also held during the visit – leaders in metallurgy, energy, mechanical engineering and the agro-industrial complex. The Kazakh delegation was represented by heads of line ministries and large local enterprises.

The prospects for implementing joint investment projects in Kazakhstan in the field of coal chemistry, automotive industry, deep processing of agricultural products and renewable energy sources were discussed.

The First Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that industrial development is an important priority for the country and called on Chinese companies to establish closer partnerships with the Kazakh business community.

In turn, representatives of leading Chinese companies expressed interest in Kazakhstan as a reliable partner for implementing strategic projects.
