Kolarova: What is the logic of Borisov picking up the ball for Radev - 1

How far will the tension between the president and the ruling majority go? Does it suggest that we are approaching the moment when the president will enter the party scene? And how does this stand against the background of the expectation by some analysts that there will or will not be early elections, triggered by Borisov in order to “pick up the ball” for Radev? These questions were commented on by political scientist Prof. Rumyana Kolarova and political analyst Slavi Vassilev in the program “Hello, Bulgaria” on Nova TV.

“If you explain to me the logic of Borisov picking up the ball for Radev, I will be grateful. Let's not confuse the position of a party leader when he is the head of government and the position of a party leader when he is part of a three-party minority coalition that exists thanks to the support of a fourth party. I don't know why some call Delyan Peevski the opposition. He is not the opposition. His party is a supporting party. It is not part of the coalition because it has no ministers, but at the same time it is not the opposition. It is part of the ruling majority," said political scientist Prof. Rumyana Kolarova.

“I can list at least 18 cabinets in Europe that have existed thanks to the support of an unacceptable party,” said Kolarova.

”In Bulgaria, politics is ostensibly a parliamentary form of government, in which there is a ruling majority and there is an opposition and everything is fine. Yes, but we see that it is not right”, said Slavi Vassilev.

“The fact that the president is on the horizon and we keep talking about his political project as a possible alternative proves that the tension in society is very high, because the need for an alternative is great. This sharp language is the result of the accumulated tension. And the fact that his mandate is ending necessarily opens the page for his political future”, commented Slavi Vassilev.
