For the last 15 years, we have witnessed at least 10 major scandals with the "Automobile Administration" - in Pernik, Blagoevgrad, Sofia, Kyustendil, Varna. Employees were caught in various schemes - demanding a "peace fee" from companies and truck drivers. There was even an inspector who demanded 50 leva from a student. In the last 4-5 years, however, such loud scandals were almost absent, when the PP - DB were in power. This was announced to Lili Marinkova in the studio "FACT" and the show "Conversation" by Nastimir Ananiev, former MP and chairman of the VOLT party.
„Now again The idea of closing the agency is being discussed. Closing it in itself is not a solution. If tomorrow the “Automobile Administration“ is transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs or demoted to a directorate in the Ministry of Transport, the people will not disappear, and the practices will continue. Closing it itself does not mean reform. Changing the sign does not mean that you are fighting corruption. In order to have an effect, the very model in which corruption arises and reproduces must be changed“, he added.
“A real reform is needed – it is clear who takes on the functions, how they are performed, what control mechanisms are in place. Without this, everything will remain as it was. If we simply close it and transfer it elsewhere, we are not fighting corruption, but moving it to a new address“, Ananiev also said.
