The Minister of Labor and Social Policy Borislav Gutsanov visited the Home for the Elderly in the village of Glavinitsa, Pazardzhik Municipality, where major renovations are being carried out with funds provided by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy (MLSP). The renovation project of the Home is worth over 2.1 million leva and is financed under the National Recovery and Sustainability Plan (NRSP).
The Home is a complex of 12 one-story buildings with a capacity for 48 users. A complete renovation of the building stock and the construction of new premises in accordance with the quality standards of social services are planned.
The renovation activities at the Home are expected to be completed by the end of the year. So far, the main construction and installation works on the buildings have been completed, the joinery has been replaced and the roofs have been repaired. The planned photovoltaic installation has also been built.
The project is part of the national program for the development of care for people who need support. With nearly 800 million leva under the National Program for the Development of Care for the Elderly, 81 homes for the elderly are being renovated and 254 social services are being provided throughout the country. The program also includes the purchase of electric vehicles with charging stations by municipalities worth 77.6 million leva, in order to improve mobile support for people with specific needs.
During his visit to Pazardzhik, Minister Gutsanov also held a meeting with representatives of the local government and with heads of the MLSP structures in the region. They discussed the possibilities for the development of social services in the region and for coordination between institutions for the purpose of more effective support for vulnerable groups.
