Greta Thunberg's latest accusations against Israel have nothing to do with reality. Her claim that she was "tortured" in Israeli custody is not only completely false - it is also an insult to the real hostages held by "Hamas" in Gaza, who are being tortured and subjected to deliberate starvation. This was stated by the Israeli Embassy in Bulgaria to "Nova TV" regarding the Swedish activist's claims that she and her supporters were "kidnapped and tortured" by the Israeli army.
The diplomatic mission assures that all participants in the so-called flotilla, including Thunberg, were treated with respect and in full compliance with international law, including the right to meet with consular representatives of their countries.
Here is what else the embassy's position says:
Israel is a democracy governed by the rule of law. The country's Supreme Court is open to everyone — including foreigners and Palestinians — for any complaints, including in cases of detention. Let us recall that these “peace activists“ wrote the phone numbers of Israeli lawyers on their hands — imitating the numbers tattooed on the victims of the Holocaust in Auschwitz. A shameful and cynical act.
This is also an occasion to recall that in her ongoing disinformation campaign, Ms. Thunberg published a photo of Eviatar David — an Israeli hostage, subjected to starvation and torture by "Hamas" in Gaza — cynically using his image as “proof“ of Palestinian suffering. This fact alone is enough to show her complete detachment from facts and reality.
Finally — Thunberg's lie, as well as that of the other provocateurs in the flotilla, is by no means the first. Their alleged “humanitarian aid“ turned out to be less than 10% of the load for a single truck, while Israel delivers hundreds of truckloads of aid to Gaza every day.
