The Ministry of Transport is introducing changes that will make things easier for drivers and reduce the administrative burden
Car technical inspection stickers will be replaced by their electronic analogue. The Ministry of Transport and Communications proposes a complete transition to electronic documents to certify the technical condition of road vehicles.
„The end of stickers and bureaucracy. We no longer need to stick, tear and keep papers - everything will be in electronic format. This is a small but important step towards a modern and digital country in which citizens receive fast and honest services,“ said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadjov.
The change is included in a draft amendment to Regulation No. H-32, published today for public discussion. The changes come after the final opinion of the Supreme Administrative Court, which canceled the issuance of physical stickers on cars.
In accordance with European Directive 2014/45, paper documents will be replaced with electronic certificates. This will facilitate cross-border inspections and improve the traceability of technical inspections carried out through a unified information system.
To ensure security, a device for digital identification of the vehicle will continue to be used during inspections - through VIN number, frame and odometer.
The changes also reduce the administrative burden for technical inspection points - The obligation to print, scan and store paper documents, as well as to notify the Agency “Automobile Administration“ in the absence of stickers, is eliminated.
The digitalization of the process will increase efficiency, shorten service time and reduce the risk of technical errors.
