Terziev on the garbage crisis: Things are starting to get sorted out - 1

There is no possibility of making a new public procurement on time, we will do direct negotiations, strengthening Sofekostroy. We will invite a wide range of companies, our goal is to achieve a reasonable price. We do not want to transfer to Sofia residents the payment of hundreds of millions that will not lead to better service, but will go into someone's pocket. This was said in the BTV program by the mayor of Sofia Vasil Terziev in connection with the garbage crisis in the metropolitan areas of "Lyulin" and "Krasno Selo".

I cannot say why they set such a price (420 leva per ton - b.r.), but it is not market. This type of service certainly does not cost as much as they have offered. The estimated price that we have set includes all investments in equipment and profit. There is nothing different in the proposed price from what we are demanding, Terziev said in connection with the offer rejected by the Sofia Municipality.

If we had accepted such prices, this would have meant many times higher bills for consumers. As it turned out, there are prices below the estimated ones, he added.

I would like to thank all the volunteers who came out and were part of the solution, because we saw that there were also quite a few unscrupulous actors. I would also like to thank the municipalities that helped us. The ability to go through problems together is the basis of a healthy society. We are trying to buy ourselves time and get things in order. Within this week, things started to get in order, we removed 220 tons of garbage. The garbage plant said that they had never seen such clean garbage – there are no earth masses, no slag and construction waste in it. This means that the citizens collected it much more conscientiously and did not mix it, as some of the companies claim, because it is profitable, the mayor said.
