After the statement of GERB leader Boyko Borisov at the party headquarters - what should we expect? End of the cabinet and early elections or reformatting its composition? Will we see Delyan Peevski's ministers in the cabinet after Borisov announced today that there is a need to reformat the government, with clear responsibility for each of the participating political entities. “Therefore, I declare that we are ready to assume our responsibility. I will send a negotiating team in these days”, Peevski later stated.
”Mr. Peevski is always ready for power. Whether we will see ministers from “DPS-New Beginning” depends, and this was the big reminder, on GERB. A reminder of who this government is thanks to, who the main political force is. Apparently, this reminder was needed. Mr. Peevski's ambitions do not surprise us. Whether they will be realized in this government, we will find out in the coming days," Georgi Harizanov told Nova TV.
According to Miroslav Sevlievski, there should be no speculation at the moment about whether the coalition partners would accept ministers from "DPS-New Beginning". "This is a request from one person, but not everything depends only on him. There are other participants in parliament. From Peevski's statement, I see that he will support the budget - one way or another, which is good news for Bulgarians," said analyst Miroslav Sevlievski. "What I see from Boyko Borisov is that he clearly says: there must be a tight budget. And he warns his coalition partners that it won't happen - one of them will promise, and he will be to blame. This won't work”, said Sevlievski. According to him, Borisov knew the situation in Pazardzhik in detail, but used the occasion to “fasten how the budget will be adopted and discussed”. ”The bad thing would be if this really is a prelude to pushing the government, new parliamentary elections”, said Sevlievski.
”The big topic should be that these ministries are not ”theirs”, ”, ”, ”, ”, ”. They belong to the people. To those who pay their taxes. Many people seem to have forgotten why they are there – they should not govern society, but serve it”, commented Harizanov.
„Borisov has always gotten used to someone else being to blame for him over the years. And this time he got caught. It turns out that he is to blame for the failure in Pazardzhik, for the problems in parliament, for the lack of a quorum, for the fact that only his deputies are working. He is trying to regain the initiative. Something typical of him. He acts in the same way as in the last 15-20 years. It is nothing new”, commented Sevlievski.
„Another political force governs in Pazardzhik. The mayor is also from another political force. GERB has never had a serious presence in the local government there. They have not nominated a mayor, or at least not one that could be elected. Talking about a “collapse“ is an exaggeration. Could the result have been better? Did GERB give its maximum? Obviously not. But neglecting some elections leads to similar results – especially in a regional center, where GERB does not have a serious presence”, believes Harizanov.
“Borisov understands politics and knows that he must create a feeling that “the party elevator is working”. That those who are up today may become down. Or the last will become first. This makes a party a working mechanism. Will there be changes? This is GERB's job. The question is: if GERB changes, will it be better? If GERB sends a prime minister different from Zhelyazkov – will it be better? I do not believe that at the moment this coalition can send a better prime minister than Zhelyazkov. But it will not be the end of the world if there is no government”, said Sevlievski.
