Over 41% is the accumulated inflation in 5 years – from September 2020 to September 2025. This was announced to the public radio by the Chairman of the National Statistical Institute, Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov.

According to the latest data for September, the annual inflation is 5.6%, but there are goods and services for which the price increase over the last year has been over 20 percent, Atanasov commented.

Such are coffee, bread, fresh fruit.

Oil and flour have increased in price over the last year by between 10 and 15%, eggs - by nearly 10%, the Chairman of the National Statistics also reported.

The autumn increase in the price of the consumer basket has also begun. This was reported by the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets.

The seasonal factor is raising the prices of fruits and vegetables; there is also an increase in flour, cheese and meat. The regulator does not see any non-market practices.

The consumer basket in our country has become more expensive by 2 leva per week and now costs 97 leva instead of the previous 95. This is shown by the data of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets.

According to experts, the main reason is the season - autumn traditionally brings a slight and smooth upward trend. The decreasing local harvest and the release of fresh products out of season increase wholesale prices, which is gradually reflected in retail.

The Commission emphasizes that there are no signs of non-market behavior or price distortion. The Bulgarian market remains “one of the most promotional“ in the region, with strong competition between traders holding back the pace of growth.
