With 118 votes "for", 74 "against" and 6 "abstains" the parliament adopted on first reading the Law on Water Supply and Sewerage submitted by the Council of Ministers, which introduces the so-called "water meter fee" through a new pricing model.
It will include not only the amount consumed, but also the payment for access to the service.
Currently, the price of water is determined solely based on the amount of consumption in cubic meters.

The draft law also provides that the designated territories for water supply services will coincide with the administrative districts.
Thus, each district will have one water supply association and one water supply operator.
The debates lasted nearly three hours and pitted the opposition and the ruling party against each other.
