Stanislav Stoyanov: We are entering the eurozone at the worst possible moment - 1

“Bulgaria's entry into the eurozone is taking place at an extremely bad time - with an unstable economic environment, misleading statistical data and political pressure.“, said in a radio broadcast the MEP, head of the “Vazrazhdane“ delegation in the European Parliament, chairman of the European party “Europe of Sovereign Nations” and deputy chairman of the eponymous parliamentary group - Stanislav Stoyanov. According to him, he has referred the matter to the Court of Justice of the EU due to suspicions of manipulation of inflation and the budget deficit presented by Bulgarian institutions.

Stoyanov described the eurozone as “very unstable“, pointing out that France is on the verge of bankruptcy, Belgium is over-indebted, and the European Union is considering new collective loans “to finance the war against Russia“.

“The possible elimination of the veto right of each member state will be disastrous for Bulgaria.“, warned the MEP, giving an example of the possibility of our country losing its say in a future decision on the accession of the Republic of North Macedonia. According to him, attempts are being made to introduce the change “through the back door“, through transitional provisions, instead of by changing the entire EU Treaty.

Stanislav Stoyanov criticizes the double standard of the European institutions. He recalled that the MEPs from “Renew Europe“ reacted sharply to the arrest of the Varna mayor, but remained silent when Bulgarian citizens protesting against the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria were detained for 33 days.

Regarding the new EU financial framework for the period 2028-2034, Stoyanov expressed concern that it envisages a 20% reduction in subsidies for farmers. “The sector is on the verge of serious dissatisfaction. Funding is being cut in order to redirect funds to rearmament instruments. There is still time for negotiations, but the concerns are completely justified.“, he stressed.

Stoyanov will continue his visit to Bulgaria by visiting Stara Zagora on October 27 and Plovdiv on October 28. In the City of Hills, he will meet with the media at a press conference at 9:30 a.m. in the hall of the "Trimontium" hotel. His visit will continue with working meetings and an open meeting with citizens. It will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the same location.
