The meeting between Donald Trump and Viktor Orban shows that there is a rather serious change in international relations, a serious division of the so-called Euro-Atlantic world. Orban, who is not Brussels' favorite politician, is the best-received European politician in Washington. This opinion was expressed by diplomat Lyubomir Kyuchukov in an interview with BNT.
He noted that the Hungarian Prime Minister is trying to earn dividends through his independent policy, which in most cases is in contradiction with the general policy of the European Union.
„Hungary, which is not a global player in principle, is becoming a serious factor, which irritates the EU. What Orban is going with is the topic of oil in Hungary. Moreover, Orban is not going to beg, but with a package of proposals in the field of energy that will be mutually beneficial. He is also going with some specific proposals in the field of nuclear energy. He is proposing a technological market breakthrough in Europe with the purchase of the so-called small nuclear reactors, which is in the interest of the United States, which wants to enter the European market“, explained Kyuchukov.
As for relations between the United States and Russia, the diplomat believes that neither Washington nor Moscow has an interest in interrupting the dialogue with each other.
“They are negotiating not only about Ukraine, but also about the future world, about the new rules of the game. If these talks stop, it would be dangerous for everyone, because we will face a sharp escalation of tensions“, Kyuchukov warned.
