Some countries have 75 amendments to the Constitution, we have 75 violations of the Constitution.
This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by Prof. Alexander Marinov, sociologist, former chairman of the strategic council to the president, co-founder of the "Bulgaria can" party, after the Constitutional Court ruled on the president's request for a referendum on the euro and the consideration of his proposal by parliament.
"It has become clear that the Constitution has been violated. All other talk about the rule of law hangs in the air. The Constitution and laws cannot be trampled on so brutally," he stressed.
Prof. Marinov does not rule out that some of the constitutional judges were guided by practical considerations and came up with their decision at a time "when there will be no political consequences."
"The people's representatives must show a little courage. They are very cowardly," he noted. In his words, it is a matter of political morality and it is right for Assoc. Prof. Natalia Kiselova to resign.
It is a mistake that they did not ask us about the EU and NATO, believes Alexander Marinov.
"We are becoming a non-democracy. A society, a state in which the possibility of the supreme sovereign to speak is systematically ignored."
"The president won. It turned out that he was right. Those who cowardly turned away the possibility of even speaking lost," commented Prof. Marinov on the "12+3" program.
According to him, in order to have an alternative, only correct critical findings are not enough, what is important is what Rumen Radev will propose.
"This is an institution that at one point turned out to be the only counterpoint to this way of exercising power."
In order to have a political alternative, one person is not enough, a large team of people with a good name, competence and energy is needed. Many capable people are currently staying away from politics, and when something new emerges, a special breed creeps in that clings to everything that looks promising, says the sociologist's analysis.
"There is no doubt that Radev is currently the only real alternative to everything we see in politics and power. But it is clear that there is not much time. There are things in politics that cannot be done in 24 hours, a month, or even half a year. There is no dispute that apart from him, there is nothing else that is visible and has very serious public support. No matter how they slander him, they attack him."
