Maya Manolova: Prices will increase once again with the entry into the Eurozone and people will take to the streets - 1

The chairman of "Stand Up. BG" Maya Manolova commented on the show "Denyat ON AIR" that people are furious at the "brazen decision" of the Sofia Municipal Council to increase prices for the blue and green zones.

This is happening without public discussion," she said.

Manolova explained that there are written consultations in which 107 people participated.

More expensive blue and green zones in Sofia

"The expansion of the green zone almost reaches the Ring Road. The very idea of limiting parking in the ideal center has long been violated," the chairman of "Izpra se.BG" emphasized to Bulgaria ON AIR.

According to her, the decision of the Municipal Council itself lacks financial justification.

How the money from the zones is spent

"If the money in Sofia were spent as intended, there would be 600 parking spaces," noted Manolova.

She expressed the opinion that people who live in areas with zones pay an annual subscription, but cannot use a parking space.

"The implementation of the new zones itself seems impossible. It is impudent not to have touched a single street, not to have fixed the sidewalks and to claim that you will draw a zone on them, "added Manolova.

We are replacing the lev with the euro

"Five laws have been violated in the seven-page report. The Sofia Municipality, by converting 1 lev into 1 euro, is becoming a speculator municipality. This is unforgivable," emphasized the chairman of "Stand Up. BG".

According to Manolova, this is being done by a number of state institutions.

According to her, in the countries that have adopted the euro, a rise in prices is observed.

Budget 2026

"There is no way to increase social security contributions without introducing a non-taxable minimum. In the social sphere, workers continue to receive a 5% increase, with inflation exceeding 10%. The pension update will come into effect from July by 8%, and the cost of living has soared by over 20%", Manolova warns.

The chairman of "Stand Up. BG" also noted that Bulgaria has the most expensive dairy products in all of Europe.

"I hope I am a bad prophet, but prices will increase once again with entry into the Eurozone and people will take to the streets", Manolova predicts.

She is of the opinion that former Parliament Speaker Natalia Kiselova "severely exceeded her powers for political purposes".
