Tsoncho Ganev: Social security contributions are being raised not by 2%, but by 10.1%. Entering the eurozone under these conditions does not bring anything good - 1

There is a bloated administration, and key sectors work with insultingly low salaries, he said this in "The Day Begins" on BNT Tsoncho Ganev from "Vazrazhdane".

The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly commented on the topic of equal pay in the public sector, the state of the administration, reforms in the Ministry of Interior, as well as his party's position on the eurozone, the state debt and foreign investments.

According to Ganev, fairness in wages can only be achieved by clearly distinguishing between the different administrations, and not through massive, equal percentage increases.

„You cannot put everyone under a common denominator and say that the state administration is bloated everywhere. There are sectors in which there should be layoffs, and others in which the workload is enormous and there are few people", he said.

As an example of a „totally bloated administration“ Ganev pointed to the structure of Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov, which, according to him, "should be closed today because it is not responsible for anything".

Ganev emphasized that the number of employees in the National Social Insurance Institution and social workers is small precisely because of the low salaries.

"With a salary of 1,500 leva, no one wants to do such a hard job. Especially in Sofia", he said and emphasized that there is a real shortage of personnel in the system, not an overstaffing.

According to Ganev, the widespread thesis about the "bloated Ministry of Internal Affairs" is misleading, because the department includes the fire department, border police and civil protection.

"Should firefighters be laid off? Or the people who guard the border? It makes no sense. The problem is in structures that need to be removed from the Ministry of Interior, and not for everyone to point out the institution as bloated“, he said.

Ganev insisted on reform and optimization, not mechanical cuts.

In his words, the budget is supported by a record high new state debt.

“This year, 19 billion leva have been withdrawn, and now another 21 billion are being offered. This is unprecedented. The bad thing is that these loans are being taken out to cover current expenses, not for investments“, said Ganev.

Ganev believes that Bulgaria is facing a risk due to the increase in social security contributions and the sharp increase in debt.

“Social security contributions are being raised not by 2%, but by 10.1%. Entering the eurozone under these conditions does not bring anything good. We are not and will not be reconciled“, he said.

According to him, the claims about the benefits of the eurozone have already been questioned even by its strong supporters.

Ganev reminded that “Vazrazhdane“ has submitted a proposal for the state to buy the “Lukoil“ refinery back in January, but it was rejected.

According to him, the current actions to place the company under special supervision will lead to serious consequences:

„They will condemn us for billions in reparations for the seizure of private property“, he said.

Ganev announced that at a meeting between the party leader Kostadin Kostadinov and Dmitry Medvedev, they were warned of reciprocal measures, including the nationalization of Bulgarian assets in Russia.

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament said that „Vazrazhdane“ wants early elections not because of a better result, but because of the political price of the current budget.

„This government is burying the people. "With 40 billion new debt in two years, it is destroying our future," he pointed out.
