A serious accident with three victims and a seriously injured child occurred last night at the intersection of the Plovdiv ring road and Zaharidovo Street. The police received the report at around 10:10 p.m., BNT specified.
According to preliminary information, a truck driven by a 24-year-old driver entered the oncoming lane and crashed head-on into a passenger car. The 43-year-old driver of the car and her passengers - a 42-year-old man and a 14-year-old child - died on the spot. Another 7-year-old child, who was riding in a safety seat, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The truck driver has been detained for up to 24 hours. His tests for alcohol and drugs are negative. The reasons for the serious traffic accident are being clarified. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated under the supervision of the Plovdiv District Prosecutor's Office.
