Ivo Hristov: BSP is no longer an independent factor - 1

The BSP is no longer an independent factor, but only an instrument of pressure. In its current form, with the current leadership, it survives only thanks to its participation in power. This makes it possible to employ part of the clientele in the party. Apart from that, it does not announce any public projects. This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by Ivo Hristov, a former MEP and former chief of staff of President Rumen Radev.

In future elections, the BSP may not overcome the barrier to enter parliament, he predicts.

"It is time for a new Left. There is a real public expectation of the emergence of a responsible political force that can save the state from institutional collapse," he said.

Borisov has experienced several waves of protests, but now he is between a rock and a hard place, Hristov also commented. "He feels the rising anger, but he cannot withdraw. That is why he is only withdrawing the budget. He is the more experienced of the two and knows that sometimes stubbornness is costly. Borisov is a proven actor, but he is also a character in a real political drama - that of his own political survival. We already have cases of people switching to the MRF. Obviously, his influence is weakening".

The former MEP also commented on the plans to achieve peace in Ukraine. Trump extended the deadline he had given the Ukrainian side to accept the peace agreement with Russia.

"These are normal tactical delays that Trump is transferring from business to politics. He uses the carrot and the stick. In Ukraine itself, people massively want peace. All resistance to the "Trump" plan comes from Zelensky's clique, which has no other choice but to prolong the fighting, which the EU and Britain are encouraging it to do. Until human resources run out. Trump is a politician who takes into account the balance of power on the ground. But the problem is not only in the course of hostilities, which is unfavorable for Ukraine. Historical and cultural factors have doomed Ukraine to this dramatic scenario since 2014, when the power in Kiev was changed by force and the escalation of the Ukrainian crisis began. This was done under the leadership of the American democratic administration. Trump is more responsible than American Democrats in foreign policy. He is trying to end an inherited war. His efforts deserve support. His plan includes proposals that take into account the situation on the ground and are guided by the common idea that peace is better than any war. Europe had the image of a pillar of peace and stability throughout the world. In the course of this war, it gradually lost its luster as a peacemaker. To date, it is the only factor that insists on continuing the war and demands that member states pay sums, despite the thunderous corruption scandals in Kiev," explained Hristov.

Ivo Hristov believes that the end of the war in Ukraine is not imminent.
