The lack of a strong opposition allows the government to cross the borders - 1

The lack of a strong opposition allows the government to cross the borders, and the latest civil discontent is distinguished by unclear messages. This thesis united Prof. Mihail Konstantinov and journalist Emilia Milcheva on the air of NOVA NEWS.

"If there is no strong opposition in a country, the government is weakened and the state becomes weak," said Prof. Konstantinov. According to him, protests are a mandatory element of democracy, but the current situation is unprecedented. "For the first time in recent years, I see a protest that I don't understand exactly what it wants," added the expert on electoral systems.

Journalist Emilia Milcheva emphasized the opposition's readiness to govern. According to her, despite the chants for resignation, the question of the alternative to the current model remains open.

"When we want this model, with an oligarch at the top, to be collapsed, we need to know what comes after it," commented Milcheva, quoted by NOVA. She emphasized that the opposition is extremely heterogeneous, including formations such as "MECH", "Vazrazhdane", "Velichye" and PP-DB, which makes it difficult to formulate a unified strategy.

The topic of the state budget sparked a discussion in the studio. According to Milcheva, a large part of the protesters are representatives of small and medium-sized businesses, who feel robbed by the new financial framework, including through increased social security contributions and dividend tax.

"BBR is the typical symbol of a piggy bank - nothing is visible. Huge billions are being given, given away for loans to companies close to the government," the journalist said, criticizing the lack of support for business and the opaque spending of funds.

Prof. Konstantinov expressed a more moderate position on the budget turmoil. "The state will not collapse from this. We are working with the familiar budget, divided by 12. We have played this game before," the mathematician explained, predicting that possible new elections would reproduce the current deadlock.

The conversation also touched on the topic of the amendments introduced to the Law on the Ministry of Internal Affairs by deputies of "DPS - New Beginning". Milcheva pointed out that this action betrays concern.

"This rush and the start of these procedures show some panic and fears that the political situation may change," she thinks, referring to the attempts to launch procedures for selecting heads of the security services.

In conclusion, Prof. Konstantinov warned of the risks of destabilization. "If a caretaker cabinet comes into force at the moment and stops the procedure for entering the euro - I do not wish that on us," he summarized.
