Protests continue in Sofia and other cities against the country's government.
I remind you that earlier today, unanimously - with 201 votes "for", the parliament gave its consent to withdraw the draft laws on the state budget, the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) and the state social insurance (SSO) for 2026.
Sofia
Citizens gathered in the space in front of the Council of Ministers to protest against the government. They chanted “Mafia“, “Resignation“. There is a strong police presence in the area.
Two protests have been organized - one on Facebook by the Citizens' Initiative "Buditeli", and the other - by citizens on a site designed for the protest on Monday and today.
The Sofia Municipality clarified to NOVA that no request for permission for protest actions has been received.
Yambol
For the third consecutive evening, Yambol residents took to the streets to protest on social networks. The main demand is for the government to resign, but opinions against the adoption of the euro were also heard.
Dozens of people of different ages gathered in front of the building of the "Consensus 1862" Community Center. They held up posters with the inscriptions "Resignation", "Pigs are in the pigsty, not in the parliament", "Lev, freedom, Bulgaria", etc.
Activists of the parties "Vazrazhdane", "Velicie" and "Prodlovu vremena" were also present, who noted to the media that they were acting in their capacity as citizens and the protest was not party-related.
„The situation in the country is extremely difficult. Our politicians are committing atrocities in our country. The budget, which they had almost adopted, would have had a very bad effect on the economy of Bulgaria. We will not give up, we will continue to fight, because the mafia has taken over the entire country“, said 20-year-old Rosen Georgiev, who is the organizer of the protest.
“As an absolutely free citizen, without any political sentiments or intentions, I am here. I am protesting for the resignation of the government and for our future. We are tired of tolerating absolutely corrupt, incompetent and venal people to rule us“, said Neli Ilcheva.
“We are here for the good future of our children, for justice and for the fall of the government“, said Hristina Hristova. “We want our grandparents to have a peaceful and dignified old age, and for us all to have higher incomes“, said Ivan Petkov.
Montana
Citizens protested this evening on “Zheravitsa“ Square in front of the Regional Administration building in Montana, demanding the resignation of the government and holding early elections.
The protest was organized by young people from the city and the region on social networks, without the participation of parties. The organizers unfurled a huge national flag, with which they covered the steps of the regional administration.
Speakers at the protest said that Montana had already woken up and, together with other cities, was raising its voice for the resignation of the government. It was emphasized that the people of the city no longer want to be governed by Borisov, Peevski and their "crutches", but declare themselves for transparent governance for the benefit of the people. There were chants of "Mafia", "Mutri out", "Resign". The protesters carried posters "Haven't you eaten yet", "I want to stay in Bulgaria - give me a reason", "Future for our children".
The police guarded the protest, which passed peacefully and without incidents. According to the observations of the police officers guarding the protest, approximately 500 people attended.
Shumen
Citizens protested in front of the Shumen Municipality building with national flags and chants of "Mafia", "Mafia out" and "Bulgarian heroes". They carried posters with the following inscriptions: "No to D", "You angered the wrong generation", "We want a future in Bulgaria". The protest continues. According to information from the police officers guarding the protest, there were about 100 people at the event.
Shumen residents gathered for another protest in front of the Municipality. Citizens organized a protest on social networks on December 1. It lasted about an hour and a half.
Ruse
A protest against the increase in local taxes and against the draft state budget for 2026 began in Ruse. It was organized by "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" in front of the building of the Regional and Municipal Administration in the city. Representatives of the local structures of MECH, Velichie and citizens also participated in it. It was joined by young people who participated in the march organized earlier with demands for a change in the system. Those present chanted "Resignation" and "Mafia".
They held posters with the inscriptions "The state is ours, not theirs", "Resistance against the dictatorship", "Sarafov out of power", "Mafia", "Resignation", as well as caricatures of the mayor of Ruse Pencho Milkov.
The mayor of Ruse Pencho Milkov announced yesterday through his official Facebook page that he was withdrawing the submitted proposal to increase the real estate tax rate and the property component of the vehicle tax.
"Regarding the municipal waste tax - in the draft State Budget for 2026, texts were proposed that postpone the introduction of the "polluter pays" principle, but they have no effect because the bill was withdrawn and has not been adopted. "That is why the Municipality of Ruse is waiting for the final decision of the National Assembly," Milkov added.
