According to preliminary data, in the third quarter of 2025, the gross domestic product (GDP) per employed person increased in real terms by 0.7% compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) announced.
The number of employed persons in the economy is 3,726.5 thousand, and the total number of hours worked is 1,467.5 million. The structure of employment by economic sectors in the third quarter of 2025 compared to the corresponding quarter of 2024 shows an increase in the relative share in the services sector and a decrease in the relative share in the agricultural and industrial sectors.
One employed person accounts for 16,814.6 BGN of the current volume of gross domestic product (GDP), with each employed person creating an average of 42.7 BGN of GDP per hour worked.
The average gross value added (GVA) per employed person in the third quarter of 2025 increased by 1.6% compared to the third quarter of 2024, and the GVA per person-hour worked increased in real terms by 1.7%.
According to preliminary data in the third quarter of 2025, the level of labor productivity in the services sector was 14 864.1 BGN GVA on average per employee and 37.9 BGN per man-hour worked. In the industrial sector, each employee produces an average of 16,629.7 BGN GVA, with an average of 40.1 BGN of the current volume of the indicator being created per man-hour worked. Labor productivity is lowest in the agricultural sector - 4,959.8 BGN GVA per employee and 13.6 BGN per man-hour worked.
