Thousands of people from Novi Iskar, Pancharevo, Vitosha, Bankya and Ovcha Kupel travel to work or school in Sofia every day. For them, this is not an intercity trip, but a daily route within their own municipality. That is why the abolition of vignettes on the key road sections they use continues to operate. Together with the “Road Infrastructure“ Agency, we are working to ensure that this policy is permanently guaranteed. This was written on his Facebook profile by the Mayor of Sofia, Vasil Terziev.
Following the decision of the Sofia Municipal Council, we are about to sign an agreement for joint financing and maintenance of the republican roads within the city – a step that will strengthen free movement without a vignette for people who travel between neighborhoods and the center every day.
Back in 2020, by decree of the Council of Ministers, a number of sections of the republican road network serving our settlements were removed from the vignette list.
Among them are: Vladaya – section of Road I-1, quarter “Sukhodol“ and village of Malo Buchino, city of Bankya and adjacent villages – parts of Road III-189 and III-802 industrial zone “Europe“ – section of Road I-8, Voluyak – Road II-81, Dolni and Gorni Bogrov, Yana, Zhelyava – Road I-1, Pancharevo, Kokalyane, Dolni Pasarel – Road II-82, Zheleznitsa and Plana – Road II-181, Novi Iskar – Road II-16.
With the upcoming agreement, Sofia Municipality will assume the maintenance of these sections on its territory, and RIA will provide its share of financing.
We continue to work for better mobility, transparent rules and an easier everyday life for all Sofia residents – regardless of which neighborhood or settlement they live in.
