Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov submitted the resignation of the Council of Ministers he heads to the National Assembly registry. This was announced by the government's press service, quoted by BTA.
Rossen Zhelyazkov's government will perform its functions until the election of a new Council of Ministers.
Earlier, the Prime Minister announced that before the vote of no confidence today, the government is resigning. The coalition discussed the situation, Zhelyazkov said. We have no doubt that the government will receive support in the upcoming vote of no confidence. Nevertheless, the decisions of the National Assembly matter when they reflect the will of the sovereign, the Prime Minister pointed out. A little later, the request for the government's resignation was supported by 106 MPs, with no opposition or abstentions, which made the sixth vote of no confidence in the "Zhelyazkov" cabinet unsuccessful.
