Political scientist: Arrogance was just the tip of the iceberg, the cup was full of a deeply flawed, repulsive model of governance - 1

"The resigned Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov was a figurehead, regardless of his personal qualities, which he has proven, but in other positions. I did not see a single slogan against him. This is astonishing, this does not speak well of him either", commented on the resignation of the government in the program "This Saturday and Sunday" Prof. Svetoslav Malinov, a political scientist and lecturer at Sofia University.

"We can fall into some kind of delusion and do something very dangerous", said the professor - "Let's help both Peevski and Borisov in this way, suggesting that the protest and the subsequent resignation are due to arrogance and conceit. They are on the surface. This is the last straw. But the cup is full of a deeply flawed, repulsive model of governance. Governance that, both locally and in institutions, follows the will of a few party leaders, institutions are destroyed to serve a certain interest, policies are made to serve the "clientele" of these parties. This could have been done much more elegantly and not arrogantly, but it would still be harmful to us", said Prof. Svetoslav Malinov.

On the topic of the future government, "not just good and educated people should come, but those who have a clear awareness that this model of governance must be dismantled or dismantled", commented the political scientist.

What caused the resignation

"The ruling majority went too far for a moment. Even the way of speaking to the citizens created a feeling that the conversation could not be conducted in this way. From a protest against the budget, at one point they started talking about the future. The protesters started asking for a future, saying "We want to stay in Bulgaria. We want to live here" - these are slogans that no political authority wants to stand by, there will not be enough arguments to overcome such types of demands. When the context changes and enters the topic of values, then the result is resignation.", commented Evelina Slavkova from the "Trend" sociological agency.

This protest has its origins back in the time when people said the same thing, and things continued,", Evelina Slavkova also said.

The demands of the protest

"It is not the job of any protest to say what it wants. The crowd was incredibly diverse, terribly diverse - every time you see it, you see something different. It is very difficult for people with different political leanings, from different generations, to have a common vision of the governance of Bulgaria. However, they all do not want arrogance. The protest cannot be reduced to the representatives of one generation. The people were really very different, they were not only young", commented former MEP from the BSP Petar Vitanov.

"Nobody wants to get together with anyone. This is the big question. Because even if GERB sits down to talk to PP-DB, they will lose a lot. The results will be early elections".
