One of the first stands from the national initiative "Shop for People" will be officially opened in the town of Kuklen.
The project aims to provide access to good Bulgarian food at consistently low prices and to support domestic producers.
Its implementation started first in the Plovdiv region after the signing of a contract at the beginning of the month between the company of the same name, the Central Cooperative Union and the Cooperative Union - Plovdiv.
The stands will be located in 65 stores in the Plovdiv region. A mobile provider will operate, serving the villages of Ruen, Skobelevo, Izvor, Dedevo, Chehlare, Babek and Svezhen.
The concept of "Shop for People" is that the trade markup is up to 10%. Store managers will not have the right to add additional markups.
More than 100,000 residents of smaller settlements are expected to benefit from the attractive prices of over 45 items, said the chairman of the regional cooperative union Lazar Filchev:
"In our stores we will not be doing promotions with these goods, they will be at a constant low price. Some of the goods will arrive at our base in Plovdiv and from there they will be transported to the stores, the other part, the more perishable goods, those that concern refrigerated storage of the products, will be received directly through logistics companies."
The products include oil, beans, rice, flour, yogurt, cheese, yellow cheese, bread, butter, canned goods, sausages, chutney and other essential goods.
The project, which is a pilot project, is planned to be implemented in stages throughout the country.
