Consultations with the president on forming a government with the political parties in the 51st National Assembly began today. The constitutional procedure started anew after the parliament accepted the resignation of the "Zhelyazkov" cabinet on Friday, BNT reported.
The first to go to Rumen Radev were those from GERB-SDF. They were represented by Denitsa Sacheva.
The consultations with PP-DB began at 11:30 a.m.
Atanas Atanasov from DSB asked Radev if he would run in the elections. And he added the question "Are we now talking to the president or to the competitor?".
"We are here to hold consultations. We have not gathered to talk about some hypothetical party of mine", Rumen Radev said.
He again categorically stated that he does not want these consultations to turn into an election campaign.
"Our country is in a complex political situation with a government that was forced to resign", President Rumen Radev summarized.
He called on the PP-DB to say how they see the important issue of the budget. He also asked them if they had a vision for when the elections would be held and whether they would initiate changes to the Electoral Code.
Assen Vassilev replied that in his opinion the current government should introduce an extension law to be adopted before the end of the year in order to "provide security for all Bulgarian citizens".
He expressed hope that the government would be able to introduce this law this week.
"As for a new government in the current parliament, we believe that this is impossible and undesirable. Citizens protested against the model of government of Borisov and Peevski. It must be dismantled, and the overthrow of the government is only part of the first step," said Assen Vassilev.
Bozhidar Bozanov stated that there should be changes to the Electoral Code in order to introduce full machine voting. The PP-DB will seek consensus on this topic.
President Rumen Radev supported the idea of complete machine voting in order to "stop the outrages with invalid protocols and ballots".
He asked the PP-DB what they meant when they said "all-out through the president".
We need to look at everything that is happening in the country in a very statesmanlike way, said Ivaylo Mirchev, and to "stop all-out".
"We still have several important tasks in this parliament. Removing Peevski's security and that of all deputies. This thing must end, that's why we have convened an extraordinary committee to see who has the will in the National Assembly".
Mirchev demanded that Peevski be "kicked out of Todor Zhivkov's cabinet as well". This is symbolic, he explained. 30 years later, Bulgaria is returning from times we supposedly ran away from, he added.
Rumen Radev agreed and said that he is also in favor of not abusing a number of institutions.
