Russian citizens Oleg Olshansky and Sergey Ivin were arrested at Sofia airport at the request of the United States, TASS reported.
The Russian Embassy in Bulgaria told TASS that the Russians are being held in pre-trial detention, and their extradition cases are being heard in court.
According to the consular department of the Russian Embassy, a Bulgarian court has already issued an extradition order against Olshansky, which his lawyers will appeal to a higher court. A hearing has not yet been held on Ivin's case.
“Our team is in contact with the Russians and their lawyers“, the consular department of the diplomatic mission also reported.
