The first months of 2026 will be highly critical for the state, because there is growing inflation and no budget. This was predicted in the studio of “This Morning“ on bTV by the former Minister of Agriculture and one of the founders of the MRF - Mehmed Dikme.
In his words, there is no such thing as a “extended budget“. He added that in his experience as a mayor and minister, by law it is proper for the state to work with 1/12 of the previous budget when there is no financial framework for the current year in force.
“Non-adoption of the budget deprives municipalities of investments that were set. It deprives people of salary indexations. Delyan Peevski and the MRF adopted the absolutely correct position – in the interest of the people, to consider this budget“, said Dikme.
According to him, it is very important for politicians to listen to the voice of the people on the street: “ I myself went to the big protest to hear from the side and feel the pulse of the protest. I dare say that this was the biggest protest since 1996. The protest was not paid, it was extremely emotional and difficult to control. The young people do not accept the status quo and the political governance of the country“.
Dikme commented that GERB leader Boyko Borisov made the right decision by listening to the demands of the protesters and resigning.
“Boyko made the wisest move because he minimized the damage to GERB. The government would have fallen anyway. The next protest would have been bigger. Instead of the people from the MRF staying and scheming in the offices, Peevski should have sent them to the streets and heard what the people want“, pointed out Dikme.
According to him, the leader of the MRF, Delyan Peevski, has done many positive things. “He must be acknowledged that he will go down in history as the man who replaced Dogan. He was the only one who could have dethroned him. If it weren't for Peevski's support, Bulgaria would not have entered the eurozone, it would not have had the necessary majority“, the former politician specified.
He commented that a “black image“ of Delyan Peevski is being created, although every person has both positive and negative sides. “I see Delyan starting to fire this or that person because of a position that someone betrayed him. In this way, instead of looking for like-minded people, he is again looking for opponents“.
The former politician predicts that Boyko Borisov will determine who will be the next caretaker prime minister, because the people in the “house book“ are 99% GERB cadres.
“I exclude the head of the BNB, we are entering the eurozone and he will have too much work to deal with the government. But the ombudsman, the deputy ombudsman, the Court of Auditors, etc., these are only GERB cadres“, Dikme added.
According to him, there is a chance for a constitutional crisis, because after the amendments to our basic law, there is no possibility of reaction if all possible candidates refuse the president.
