Vladimir Trifonov to FACT: The negotiations in Alaska to date do not look like a major breakthrough (VIDEO) - 1

People always have hope that conflicts, no matter how terrible they are, will end sooner or later. We see the peace negotiations being led by Trump. If we look at the details, we will see that the process will be very long. In any case, there are a number of contradictions that cannot be resolved. The US is not able to convince its European partners of what it wants. Let's not forget that the political situation in the States is tense - next year there are midterm elections and this could change the balance of power in the Senate and Congress. He announced this to Lili Marinkova in the studio “FACT“ and the show “Conversation“ political scientist Dr. Vladimir Trifonov.

„The talks in Alaska between Putin and Trump do not seem like a major breakthrough to date. Russia tried to find a reasonable, pragmatic solution that would end the conflict and start an economic partnership with the United States. This could also mitigate the geopolitical contradictions between the two countries“, he pointed out.

„Regarding the attacks on Russian military personnel, I am referring to the assassination attempt on the 13th Russian general, they show that Moscow is asking why there is restraint. If there is a consensus among the participants in the conflict not to attack the highest-ranking politicians in Russia and Ukraine, this does not apply to high-ranking military personnel. So far, there has been no direct action by Russia, which is reacting in a different way - by destroying energy infrastructure or by fulfilling its military goals. At the level of military experts, an analysis is being made on how to strengthen the officers' security and limit future similar attacks," Trifonov also said.
