The average electricity consumption by households in Western Bulgaria, reported in the invoices issued as of 27.01.2026, is nearly 30% higher compared to the previous reporting period, according to data from Electrohold Sales.
These invoices include electricity consumed during the holidays and weekends at Christmas and New Year.
The main factor in the formation of electricity bills is individual consumption. For households using electricity for heating, it increases significantly during the winter months. Consumption is also affected by the insulation of the home, the outside temperature and other factors. In January, the average temperature in Western Bulgaria dropped to 0 degrees compared to nearly 3.1 degrees in December. In addition to heating appliances, other major consumers of electricity in the household are the boiler, cooker, dryer, freezer, refrigerator and dishwasher.
