„The proposed changes to the Law on Supporting Agricultural Producers guarantee income security for small farms, for family farms and for people who, despite the difficulties, remain and work in their hometowns.“ This was stated by the MP from the BSP-UNITED LEFT Krasimir Yordanov from the parliamentary rostrum.

He emphasized that for the left, agriculture is not just a sector of the economy, but a livelihood, stability and a chance for life in Bulgarian villages.

According to him, the parliamentary group supports the postponement of the mandatory electronic signature for the direct payment campaigns in 2026 and 2027. “Digitalization is necessary, but it should not become an administrative barrier to supporting agricultural producers“, Yordanov pointed out.

The MP considered the failure to reach a consensus on the introduction of the Mutual Fund as a risk management tool as a mistake. “We are convinced that in the conditions of climate change, animal and plant diseases and increasingly frequent natural disasters, the state has no right to leave producers alone against uncertainty. A system of timely, fair and real support is needed“, he emphasized.

According to Krasimir Yordanov, at the end of the mandate of the National Assembly, changes that bring direct benefits without creating new risks for agricultural producers should be adopted.

“This bill does not solve all the problems of the sector, but it is a step towards greater security and fairer support“, the socialist also said.

In conclusion, he announced that the parliamentary group of BSP-UNITED LEFT would support the bill at first reading and expressed hope that it would be adopted at second reading.

“Our goal is simple and categorical: for the law to work for people on the ground, for real producers, and not against them. Because Bulgarian agriculture needs state support, not additional bureaucracy," added Yordanov.
