Minister Neynski met with Martin McDowell, acting US ambassador to Bulgaria.

The two discussed the difficult situation in the Middle East and Iran, with emphasis placed on security guarantees for Europe in the event of a possible escalation and expansion of the conflict.

Minister Neynski raised the issue of the abolition of visas for Bulgarians wishing to visit the US. The two countries united around their desire to deepen relations in the fields of technology, defense and energy. Our participation in the Transatlantic Gas Security Summit and in particular the vertical gas corridor was discussed. The Bulgarian Foreign Minister stressed the need for a derogation for Lukoil until the successful conclusion of sales negotiations. The interest of American companies producing and supplying liquefied gas to expand their presence and investment activities in Bulgaria was noted.

Bulgaria expressed its desire to join the Pax Silica initiative in the context of cooperation in the field of high technologies, artificial intelligence and data centers. The progress of the project to build the seventh and eighth units of the Kozloduy NPP with the American AP-1000 technology was also condemned.
