Today is the deadline for BNB Governor Dimitar Radev to propose a candidate for deputy governor to head the "Issue" department of the central bank, BNT reports.
The candidate must submit documents proving that he has completed at least a "master's" degree and that he is a professional in the field of economics, finance and banking.
After being admitted based on documents, the candidate will be heard in the Finance Committee of the National Assembly, and then his candidacy will be voted on by the parliament. The BNB has not had a separate deputy governor for the "Issue" since July 2024, when the bank's board of directors removed Andrey Gyurov from his post.
The legal disputes over the case are still ongoing, but Gyurov officially left the bank, taking up the post of acting prime minister in mid-February this year.
