Rumen Radev set 7 tasks for the government because of the wars in Ukraine and Iran - 1

Bulgaria is in the immediate vicinity of two armed conflicts. The one in the Middle East is growing rapidly and has already covered the entire region. The strikes against Iran create a real risk to our security. The passive behavior of the caretaker cabinet, which downplays the risks and does not take the necessary measures in such cases, is alarming.

The war in the Gulf has already drastically changed the prices of oil and natural gas and in the near future they will not return to their old levels.

President Rumen Radev warned about this on "Facebook".

1. It is urgent for the cabinet to check the reserves of crude oil, liquid fuels and gas that Bulgaria has and the readiness to use them in case of need.

2. The entire nomenclature of the state reserve must be checked. The disruption of supply chains and the new fuel prices risk hitting all sectors of the European economy, of which Bulgaria is a part. The risk of deficits at all levels is real. It must be predicted and mitigated with proactive actions.

3. The war is also expected to give rise to a new immigration influx in the coming months. Bulgaria is the first European country on the migration route from the Middle East and should raise the issue at the next European Council, without waiting for someone else to do so. The problem requires European coordination and preventive action.

4. To review and, if necessary, update the plans for enhanced security of the state border in order to control increased immigration pressure.

5. To review the plans for combating terrorism and increase vigilance.

6. The attacks with drones and ballistic missiles near our region require the Ministry of Defense and the security services to discuss the protection of our strategic sites from such a threat, which requires the urgent development of countermeasure mechanisms. To develop plans for the deployment, if necessary, of additional forces and assets from the Bulgarian Army for air defense and combat against unmanned aerial vehicles.

7. In parallel with all of the above, the cabinet must control the speculative price increase, which is a consequence of the forced introduction of the euro and the weak readiness of Bulgarian institutions to combat speculation.
