The US Senate failed to stop the military campaign in Iran, NOVA reported.
Republican senators voted against the proposal submitted by the Democrats.
Only one Republican - a senator from Kentucky - supported the decision to stop the war. But this was not enough and the proposal was rejected by 47 to 53 votes.
If it had been adopted, Donald Trump would have had to order a halt to the bombing and request permission from Congress if he wanted to resume them.
„This administration cannot even give us a direct answer as to why we started a preventive war. The president says we should have struck first because an Iranian strike was inevitable. But the Department of Defense has admitted that there is no evidence of such. Some told us this war was about nuclear weapons. But six months ago we were confident that our last strike on Iran had destroyed their nuclear program. So which one is true? The most candid answer came from the Secretary of State, who told the press that Israel got us into this war. Again. And that truth is the real reason Congress has to decide on wars," said Republican Senator Thomas Massie.
