The attempt of PP-DB to make reforms in partnership with GERB and MRF was a strategic mistake that predetermined failure. When you come to power with a promise to dismantle a certain model, but govern together with its creators, it is difficult to achieve real results. This is most clearly seen in the judicial reform, which did not lead to significant changes. The Supreme Judicial Council continues to have an expired mandate, and the prosecutor's office functions in the old way. There is practically no real change. „The political clashes surrounding the reforms have only deepened the tension and led to growing distrust – both among citizens and in the judicial system itself. The way in which the law is applied remains a problem – often with actions that create a sense of political motivation and deviation from the principles of the rule of law. This does not solve the problems, but deepens them. Ultimately, the lack of consistency and contradictory political decisions lead to an even greater crisis and erosion of trust in the institutions“, the lawyer added.
