Yavor Kuyumdzhiev to FACT: There is no reason to panic about fuel - the state should not intervene (VIDEO) - 1

Resistance against market mechanisms that conquer the whole world is generally meaningless. And the aid that is being provided. The industries are protesting because they want the state to help them. But I don't think so - the state should not help. If we ignore the fact that in two weeks there will be elections, and this government is officially participating in the election campaign, because it can promise everything, but will not participate in the implementation - for me there is no reason to panic. He announced this to Lili Marinkova in the studio “FACT“ and the show “Conversation“ economist Yavor Kuyumdzhiev.

„We have not reached the oil levels that we had on the world market a few years ago. Then the price was around 149 dollars, now it is 109. When the war in Ukraine began, it was 125, now it is 109. We have not even reached the levels from before – when fuel prices were 10-15 stotinki higher than they are now. Why help…“, asks the guest.

„Let's not forget another thing – 4 years ago Bulgarians were poorer than they are today. In the last 4 years, incomes have increased by 30-40%. We currently have more money, and prices have not yet risen so much that intervention is needed. And now we want the state to help – what does that mean? Drain it, end it? We are giving 25 million euros for the socially vulnerable, another 100 million in support for transport - whether it will be a one-time payment, we don't know. Support for carriers, agricultural producers... and then? We hear about a reduction in VAT for restaurants, a reduction in excise duty on fuel. Everyone wants it," Yavor Kuyumdzhiev also shared.

“I repeat, but we have not reached the limit. We have not reached the levels of 2022. Absolutely nothing should be done at this moment. We do not know how long this conflict will last - if it ends in two weeks, things will return to normal. The financial policy that the state has must be maintained. We do not have a budget. The Minister of Finance showed that there is a deficit of 500 million euros for the first months. Where will this money come from to help? From our taxes. In my opinion, it is better to save the funds for a time when there is a real need. If the price reaches 140-150 dollars per barrel, then help. And now for what - because it is wanted?“, the guest also said.
