The most secret prayers on the brightest days are for health. However, there are moments when we also pray for a miracle. The people who first hear these prayers and to whom the eyes of patients look with hope are the doctors.
„I can't remember who said that there are no atheists in the trenches. In surgical specialties, in many cases, everyday life creates a feeling of being on the front line and of a battle that we are waging with diseases. It is more than natural not to be atheists. Because every surgeon knows that sometimes the best-planned operation may not end in the desired way. As well as the opposite, that some practically impossible, extremely severe cases, in which the patient has almost no chance of survival - actually develop favorably", commented in “This Sunday“ Prof. Nikolay Gabrovski, head of the Neurosurgery Clinic at the largest emergency hospital in our country “Pirogov“.
“It is very important to develop our ability to use all the latest achievements of medicine to the maximum. All possible protocols, knowledge that give us the opportunity to win this battle. But the truth is that there always remains something unknown, which does not surprise us“, he pointed out and added that he hopes that there will be more good surprises.
“In our everyday life - even not so rare, there are cases that surprise us endlessly. We have patients injured in very serious accidents, who have minimal abrasions or minimal injuries. We have patients who fell from the 6th and 7th floors - with minimal injuries too. We have patients with terribly badly broken spines, at the same time they remain mobile. Something that contradicts all the logic we rely on. So miracles happen and I am convinced that each of us has an angel who protects him“, pointed out Prof. Gabrovski.
He shared that there were cases in which he prayed and his prayers were heard.
