The Prosecutorial College of the Supreme Judicial Council will hold a meeting on Wednesday, at which it will consider the proposal of the acting Minister of Justice Andrey Yankulov to initiate disciplinary proceedings to impose a disciplinary penalty on Borislav Sarafov - acting Prosecutor General at the date of submission of the proposal. This is stated in the published agenda of the college, BTA noted.
The item will be reported by the committee “Disciplinary activity and interaction with the ISJC“ and is second on the agenda. The meeting starts at 11:00.
The minister's proposal was made at the end of March. It contains five circumstances. Yankulov emphasizes that the actions and inactions of the de facto acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov constitute serious disciplinary violations for which he should be imposed the most severe disciplinary punishment - disciplinary dismissal from office.
According to the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the Prosecutorial College of the Supreme Judicial Council, Evgeni Ivanov, the proposal is admissible, it is made by a minister, regardless of Sarafov's current status, the proposal is related to a magistrate and there is no reason not to consider it.
On April 22, Borislav Sarafov withdrew his consent to take up the position of Acting Prosecutor General in a statement published on the prosecutor's office website. On the same day, the Prosecutorial College of the Supreme Judicial Council appointed Vanya Stefanova as Acting Prosecutor General in Sarafov's place for a period of six months. The decision can be appealed within 14 days.
